Founded by Hugh Sisson in 1995, Clipper City is the area's largest local brewery producing high caliber beers. Bold and aggressivly styled, their Heavy Seas beers have higher gravity, more malt, and more hops than traditional beers in the same category. Many of their beers have won awards, including a silver medal at the World Beer Championship for their Small Craft Warning Uber Pils.
We are particularly proud of featuring their Winter Storm in cask-conditioned form on our hand pump this season. Cask ales, or "real" ales, are draft or bottled beers made from traditional ingredients, matured by secondary fermentation in the container from which it is dispensed, and served without the use of extraneous carbon dioxide. Ales that are cask-conditioned tend to be more complex, with a soft and creamy texture. The Winter storm is fabulous this way - just ask for a taste and we think you'll love it as much as we do.
